My Story
From the Courtroom to the Spreadsheet
I'm Shyam Talati, a finance student at Drexel University's LeBow College of Business, completing a BSBA in Finance while working as a Real Estate Intern at Amtrak. My path to finance is non-traditional, and that's something I consider a strength.
Before Drexel, I spent years in the legal world: first as a Claims Analyst at Verus LLC, where I supported accounting operations and processed client billing at scale, then as a Litigation Paralegal at Saltz Mongeluzzi Bendesky, where I managed over 60 active cases and oversaw settlement distributions exceeding $27M. That environment taught me precision, financial accountability, and how to find the signal in large volumes of complex documentation.
Now at Amtrak, I'm applying those skills to real estate analysis: conducting comparable market analysis via CoStar, supporting acquisition valuations, and performing property due diligence. It's hands-on financial analysis work, and it's reinforcing exactly why I'm pursuing corporate finance.
My academic focus at Drexel covers Financial Reporting, Corporate Finance, Managerial Accounting, and Real Estate Finance, paired with technical skills in Excel, SQL, Python, Tableau, and R. I'm also CPA Exam Eligible in Pennsylvania, which reflects my commitment to accounting and financial rigor alongside the modeling side of the discipline.
